About the Role
The Garden Specialist is responsible for maintaining and enhancing landscape beds, ornamental plants, and garden spaces. This role focuses on plant health, detail-oriented maintenance, and the overall appearance of landscape beds.
The Garden Specialist ensures that every garden and planting area maintained by 4Seasons PGH remains clean, healthy, and visually appealing throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities:
Garden Bed Maintenance
Maintain landscape beds through detailed weeding, edging, soil cultivation, and general bed upkeep.
Plant & Shrub Care
Perform seasonal pruning, trimming, and shaping of shrubs and ornamental plants while promoting healthy plant growth.
Plant Health Monitoring
Identify signs of plant stress, disease, or pest issues and communicate concerns so proper treatment can be applied.
Seasonal Enhancements
Assist with seasonal planting, mulch installation, and garden improvements that enhance the appearance of properties.
Detail Work & Presentation
Ensure beds remain clean, defined, and visually appealing, contributing to the overall landscape presentation of each property.
Requirements
Basic knowledge of plants, shrubs, and garden maintenance is preferred.
Garden Specialists must maintain a high level of precision when working in landscape beds.
This includes:
careful weeding
clean bed edging
proper pruning techniques
maintaining neat and visually appealing planting areas
This role involves physical outdoor work including:
bending and kneeling for extended periods
lifting 40–50 pounds
working outdoors in varying weather conditions
performing detailed work throughout the workday
Garden Specialists must demonstrate:
consistent attendance and punctuality
the ability to work independently or with a crew
pride in maintaining beautiful and healthy landscapes
professional behavior while working on client properties
